Our membership comprises women from all walks of life in town and country. Approximately 10,500 women belong to one of over 400 local branches, working not only for the overall aims of the organisation but often for very specific local issues. We have 30 Groups which cover all Branches and each Group meets quarterly to coordinate activities and hear reports from State Executive. The Queensland Country Women’s Association:
The QCWA connects communities in matters of health, education, transport and communication and local branches consist of women who care for each other and work together in a culture of friendship, advocacy and personal development. The Country Women’s Association in Tasmania:
The Country Womens Association in Tasmania (Inc) began in 1936, when the first branch was opened at a meeting in Launceston Town Hall, convened by Lady Clark, the wife of the Governor. In the next 18 months, 18 branches were formed, with a membership of 550. Today, we have thousands of members in over 40 branches. The Country Women’s Association of Victoria Inc.:
The Country Women’s Association of Victoria Inc. was formed on 12 March 1928 and today boasts over 5532 members. Each member belongs to one of 306 branches statewide that maintains its own program and is empowered to meet community needs. We are also an affiliated member of the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW), which has nongovernment organisation status at the United Nations. The Country Women’s Association of the Northern Territory:
Members are the grassroots of the Northern Territory’s Association and the most important people. Members form the branches and from the branches come the thoughts and actions that drive the Association.
